She received her high school diploma from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a concentration in visual arts. Then went on to receive a Bachelors degree in Painting from the University of California Santa Barbara. While attending college she completed the Art Marketing and Business program at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. Since 2013 she has been featured in 15 shows across four states. After working as freelance painter and Art Director for the Elisabeth Jones Art Center Artist CoLAB in Portland, Oregon for 3 years, Somma is now focusing on her own art practice while living a nomadic life abroad.
Essie’s art is the focal point of any room. Her style is thought provoking, dialogue initiating, and so beautifully in depth. Do yourself a favor and buy some damn art.
I purchased two different pieces of artwork from Essie and am so thrilled with them both! Not only is she incredibly talented, but she helped organize my pick up of one of the larger pieces, quickly and with ease. She’s a true professional and I am honored to have multiple pieces of her work in my home!
I am in awe of Essie Somma. After trading prints and stickers back and forth, I finally purchased an original painting from her and I am so happy to have Our Lady Debbie hanging in my living room. It's big and beautiful and Essie's raw talent just shines through. Her creativity is endless.
I couldn’t be happier with my prints of Quarantine Daydream and I can’t quit you, babe. They arrived in perfect condition within a couple of weeks and found the ideal home in my living room. I’m definitely looking forward to purchasing some future projects!
